ShadeFell is a multiplayer fantasy game for adults. Here are responses to some of the more often asked questions. Anything not covered can be posed via our Discord or in the community forum.

How can I play ShadeFell?

To play, you will need to register using the link in the top right of this page. Registration requires a valid email address to which a verification code will be sent.

Do I have to pay to play?

Yes. Currently, ShadeFell costs $14.99 and comes with a free month of play time. Further play time can be purchased at $4.99 per month. We do not use a subscription service, so you never need to worry about us taking money from your account, or difficulties with stopping the subscription.

What are the minimum specs required to play?

• Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

Can I pay to win?

ShadeFell has a level playing field policy. There are no other payments or micro-transactions, and there never will be.

Will there be sex?

Social interactions are a part of everyday life in Eotha, and sex with other characters is part of that.

Adult themes? What does that mean?

Eotha is a brutal world, with slavery, torture, violence, bdsm, murder, consensual/non-consensual sex, and drug-taking. Whilst Eotha is a fantasy world, and everything that happens in the world (through the game itself, the in-character forums, and in-character discord channels) is part of that fantasy; we do not condone violence, misogyny, misandry, sexism, racism, or any form of intolerance towards others.

How do you stop minors from viewing inappropriate content?

We take our responsibilites very seriously. The game and in-character forums are hidden behind a pay-wall. It is the responsibility of players to ensure they do not expose minors to content that is behind the pay-wall.

Can my characters die?

Every character played starts as a young adult (2 Turnings/Seasons), and progresses through their lifespan (averagely 8 Turnings/Seasons), and will eventually die. Death can, of course, come much sooner due to murder or disease. It is wise to set an heir to take over a character's belongings in case they die unexpectedly or of old age.

I want my money back!

We will refund the price of the initial purchase providing fewer than 2 hours of in-game time has been played. After 2 hours of play time, no refunds can be given. You can't read a book then take it back. A monthly play time payment is non-refundable.

My character was murdered, what are you going to do about it?

Nothing. You did set an heir for this character didn't you?

My character has been jailed for in-game continuous targeted harassment, ignoring GMs

A 24 jail term for offences can be handed out at the discression of GMs.

I've been banned for in-game spamming, trolling, taking advantage of bugs, hacking, account swapping/selling/stealing, attempting to play, or making content available to, minors or from a country where such content is illegal, or other offence against the Terms & Conditions.

Under such circumstances, a permanent ban will be immediate and without prior notification.

I didn't set an heir for my character, where's my stuff?

Gone. Once a character dies, all their bank and personal inventories, are transfered to the heir. If no heir was set for the character, all of those belongings are gone for good.

I've seen things that I can't un-see.

Quite likely.

I haven't played for a while and all my characters are dead.

Time and tide stop for no-one. Your characters age whilst you are away.

Well, I wasn't expecting that!

Good. That means we're building the game correctly.

My character was knocked out and their stuff was stolen.

Yep.

My character was walking through a market place and was pick-pocketed. My stuff was stolen.

Yep.

I left stuff in my rented house and someone broke in and stole it.

Yep.

Where is safe from PvP?

Nowhere.

This game offends my personal or religious sensibilities.
