Everything is political

Just as trade is the machinery of the economy, politics provides a platform for that machinery; as well as laying down the terms on which nations meet each other.

On the first day of every other month, an international vote is cast to appoint people to primary positions of power. Every citizen is entitled to vote, and the newly elected are expected to take up their posts and duties the following day when the results are revealed.

• Primary positions
  The voteable order of power, are overseers of named regions, whose responsibilities include the appointment of a national Judge, and Captain of the Guard, as well as the creation and hosting of social events in the name of the nation. Primary positions receive a stipend equal to 5% of total housing revenue for their region for the month.
• Secondary positions
  Judges - whose job it is to preside over all trials brought before them by the Captain of the Guard. Trials are held in private and the Judge's decision is final. Based on statements from the Captain of the Guard with gathered evidence, and the defendant, it is the Judge's job to mete out justice as they see fit.
  Captain of the Guard - The Captain is responsible for the hiring of upto a dozen Guards to maintain law and order; they are also responsible for colating ceime evidence and statements to bring before the Judge.
  Secondary positions receive monthly stipend equal to 0.5% of national housing revenue for the month.
• Tertiary positions
  Appointed Guards are to be seen and act as a deterent to criminal activities, and enfocing the law when needed. A Guard's job is to report any crimes to their Captain. All guards receive a monthly stipend equal to 0.1% of national housing revenue for the month.

Adria

During The Vote, The Marquis and/or Marquesses of ShadeFell, Marilho, Luzza, and Alebrarri are selected to serve for the following two month term. They are answerable only to the Royal Family at ShadeFell, and can be removed by Royal Decree.

As trade and the taxation of trade is the key ecomic revenue stream for the country, good relations with other nations is imperative. Therefore Adria is on friendly terms with all trading nations, with Carialand and the Necalli Empire being favoured trading partners, and due to slavery; the Momind Empire and Bhadian Republic are tolerated but treated with suspicion.

Carialand

During The Vote, The Knights of Belakan, Nox Caras, Pedros, Mete Savannas, De Bhan, and Chachida are selected to serve for the following two month term. They are answerable only to the Royal Family at Pedro, and can be removed by Royal Decree.

Carianland is a favoured trading nation with Adria to the north, and trades with Ternia and the Bhadian Republic by sea via the southern arctic ocean and the port of Si Neri Poerta. The entire border with Bara Bara is marked with skull sticks and must not be passed by agreement with the Bara nation. The western border with the Bhadians is also closed and strictly monitored. The Carians are anti slavery, and anti drugs, and anti spying so protest almost everything Bhadian. Shipping entering Poerta De Moel from Rúste and Sollölgr is heavily customs checked for illegal goods.

Necalli Empire

During The Vote, The Elders of Medatli, Teyapni, Chuy-Ahi, Mezlti, Ititiai, adn Titici are selected along with Elders for the rogue Protectorates of Ixi, Ix-Kui. There is no higher power in the Empire.

Due to the extreme tranquil serentity of the Necalli, all other nations treat the Empire with a revered respect, if somewhat wary of the fabled martial artists of Ix and Ix-Ku. No drugs, slavery or spying is allowed anywhere in the Empre, and no Necalli is allowed to own a slave. The death penalty is swift and the instant response to all crimes. Foreigners are warned about this on entry to the Empire.
